Finding beauty and wonders in the smallest things in life

Who knew an old bulb would make a picture look so much more beautiful eh? The feelings of beauty and wonder lead to small tints of happiness in life. I find and savor these little moments and things in life that make me a happier person. The key to living a happier life is to see and be grateful for the little things in life that bring a smile to your face.

A trip to Teesta Barrage, Siliguri

We had a splendid family picnic today. We hurriedly cooked the food, got everything ready and hit the road. The picnic spot we chose was the Teesta Barrage in Siliguri. And what a nice decision it was! The place is filled with greenery and is very peaceful. Here are some pictures I took while we were enjoying there.

A visit to the zoo.

I had a great time during my trip to Darjeeling last month. The cold weather and dark days tend to keep me refreshed. I always travel to Darjeeling a few times a year to take a break from all the tiring days of work. And its a helluva treat for my cameras! 🙂 It’s just such a beautiful place that it’s hard not to click a few hundred photos every time I go there. So this time I went to the zoo and had a great time there. I didn’t even realize that I had spent over 4 hours in the zoo until I got out and had a look at my watch!  Here are some of the pictures from the furry photo shoot.

Flowers, Flowers and Flowers.

While you’re travelling to new places, you’re bound to be out of your comfort zone. Suddenly you don’t know many people around you,  your everyday routine is a whole lot different and sometimes you just need to sacrifice stuff you took for granted while you were at home. But there will be certain things that you can relate to. They can be habits, etiquette, surroundings and all kinds of things that are included in the everyday life in that place.

These particular things, either small or big, always bring a smile to my face. That’s when I go, “Ah… I’m an alien here after all!” . Flowers are one of my top targets, as they’re present everywhere and at least one of them identifies to one in my home-town. So these beautiful flowers make up 20% of my Happiness level.

Here are pictures of some that I tend to find frequently.

Do you find something common everywhere you go? Feel free to share your thoughts below through the comments area.

Darjeeling, the queen of hills.

I lived in Darjeeling for 7 years, where I used to study at St. Joseph’s School. The Darjeeling town is small but has an attraction of its own. The year round cold weather and the fresh air is refreshing. It is filled with tourists all the time and is one of the internationally renowned places in the world. I always enjoy my visits to Darjeeling. Check out some shots I took while I was there a few days ago. The road around Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Statue of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. On the way to Singamari. St. Joseph’s School, Darjeeling. On the way to Chowrasta. Mal Road. What a place to rest and savor the beautiful views around Darjeeling! We seemed to be above the clouds and in level with the mountains! Chowrasta. Sunset. For a moment, the sky turned into a painting…
